You will find all of our rescues on our facebook page, but these are some of our first and most special. We hope you enjoy the stories and pictures, although some of these cannot be done justice.
Shayna & Honey
Honey (Italian Greyhound) and Shayna (Britney Spaniel) are in foster care until the owner is well enough to come home. Complications from a day surgery have led to 3 months in the hospital due to complications. Able to come home for a short period of time the Fosters rushed the dogs back home. Unfortunately, he ended up back in the hospital so our Fosters picked his loved ones back up. We never know our future but through our H.O.P.E. program your animals are safe with us until you are well enough to care for them.
Anjo
Anjo is nestling into a nice comfy bed at her Foster’s house. Her people are moving into a nursing home out of state and are unable to take her with them. Anjo has been a life long family member and will see them one last time after the holidays. We will keep her in foster care until the 1st of the year so they can have their one and only wish; to say good-bye to their beloved Anjo
Coco
Coco came to the Shade Tree Shelter with his Mom who was very ill. She was transported to the hospital but because the Shelter’s kennels were full, we picked-up Coco. Sadly, he was very ill as well and although he was rushed to the vet, he did not make it through the night. The endings to a rescue are not always happy but we make sure that when the family needs to get medical care for themselves, their beloved family member is taken care, even if they need their own medical care.
Chico
Chico is a therapy dog for his Mom with MS who needed immediate medical attention she was not able to get him. Our volunteer picked Chico up, got him to a vet where he was treated and released. Chico and his Mom need each other. The love is unconditional, does it show? We are helping Families one pet at a time.
Gigi
Little Gigi's family could no longer care for her not only because her leg was broken but the economy left them out of work an losing their home. They knew she needed more than they could provide. Gigi is now with our foundation to have surgery and find a new forever home.
Charlie
Charlie is a special case and came with 4 other friends. His Mom passed away and her only wish was that her cats be cared for and kept safe. Charlie’s Mom spent her life helping animals and donating to charities. She was a true animal advocate. When she passed her Son called shelters and rescues and none could take in the feline friends. He called us and touched our hearts with his Mom’s story. She had given so much and this was all she asked in return. Her Son and our volunteers made her last wish come true.
Roxie
Roxie is a 3 year old Great Dane mix. Her owner had a serious medical emergency last year. While losing time at work and paying off a $4000 vet bill on her other dog, she was now facing surgery for Roxie. There were not many options; Roxie was having severe bladder infections due to a birth defect. Because Roxie is a little timid with people, her best home is the one she is in. Now recovered from her surgery she is living comfortably where she belongs. Our purpose having been fulfilled, another family is kept together.

Here are some more lucky ones that have already found their new forever home.
Chester
We got this beautiful English Cocker Spaniel, Chester, from you in June '10 and I wanted Rae to see how cute he's become. This is the first great pic of him. Geat your rescue animals from TLB, they are the best. He will be 1 year old Jan. 20, 2012 - Posted by Linda-
A Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Organization
This is Highway.
Many of you may remember “Highway”. She was our major medical that we have had on our website for the past year. We took her into
the rescue due to her horrible condition. She looked as though she had been used as a bait dog, then possibly hit by a car. Her wounds and
infections were too numerous to count. Our vet bill far exceeded the original low estimate of $3,000.
Once Highway completely healed and completed her therapy, we made the decision to send her through our Pups, Prisoners and Patriots
Program. We knew she would receive lots of one on one attention and love, special handling, and training that she needed.
I am happy to share that because of your generosity, Highway (now Trinity) has graduated from her training class at the prison and is
ready to find her Veteran or First Responder. She is an amazing emotional support dog and has so much love to give.
The reason that I am sharing this story with you is because YOU are the reason this has happened. I ask that in lieu of our Holiday
Fundraiser this year, that you think of us on Giving Tuesday. We want to be able to have more success stories like this and carry on
Rae’s legacy, and help the animals out there that need us the most.
